چکیده
Background: Fractures of the distal femur are rare and severe. For an extra-articular fracture, all therapeutic options possible mini-invasive surgery can be performed. In case intra-articular open reduction internal plate fixation should Objective: To evaluate functional radiological outcomes 20 patients with comminuted supracondylar fractures managed by either single or double plating. Patients Methods: A prospective randomized clinical study was done in period between November 2019 September 2020 involving cases femoral fractures. All were operated at Al-Azhar University Hospitals Al-Helal Hospital. divided into two groups/ preoperatively. The randomly allocated for treatment either: Group I lateral ,or group II Results: There insignificant differences groups regarding range movement, pain, knee society score complications. Conclusion: Although both plating using dual approach type C2 C3 efficient safe methods management, recommended these cases, i.e. medial bone loss, low transcondylar bicondylar Hoffa per prosthetic fractures, nonunion after failed plate, poor quality C3.

Comminuted supracondylar femoral fractures: a biomechanical analysis comparing the stability of medial versus lateral plating in axial loading
The aim of this study was to compare the biomechanical properties of medial and lateral plating of a medially comminuted supracondylar femoral fracture. A supracondylar femoral fracture model comparing two fixation methods was tested cyclically in axial loading. One-centimetre supracondylar gap osteotomies were created in six synthetic femurs approximately 6 cm proximal to the knee joint. There...
متن کاملEffectiveness of Minimally Invasive Plate Osteosynthesis (MIPO) on Comminuted Tibial or Femoral Fractures
Background: Comminuted fractures happen frequently due to traumas. Fixation without opening the fracture site, known as minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO), has recently become prevalent. This study has beendesigned to assess the outcomes of this treatment for tibial and femoral comminuted fractures. Methods: A total of 60 patients with comminuted femoral or tibial fractures were opera...
متن کاملCondylar buttress plate versus fixed angle condylar blade plate versus dynamic condylar screw for supracondylar intra-articular distal femoral fractures.
PURPOSE To compare outcomes of 3 fixation techniques for intra-articular distal femoral fractures. METHODS Records of 59 men and 49 women aged 16 to 80 (mean, 47) years who underwent internal fixation for 116 type-C (complete intra-articular) distal femoral fractures were retrospectively reviewed. According to the AO classification, 25 fractures were type C1 (23 closed and 2 open), 71 type C2...
متن کاملImmediate weight bearing of comminuted supracondylar femur fractures using locked plate fixation.
Comminuted supracondylar femur fractures (AO-OTA 33A3) are commonly treated with locked plates. Weight bearing is generally restricted for 6 to 12 weeks until radiologic evidence exists of sufficient callous to support weight bearing. Recent clinical studies have reported high nonunion rates with distal femur locked plates. In an attempt to induce beneficial motion across the fracture site, som...
متن کاملClosed unlocked nailing for comminuted femoral fractures.
Fifty consecutive comminuted fractures of the femoral shaft were treated by closed unlocked intramedullary nailing. Twelve unstable fractures also had cast-bracing. There were no cases of infection or non-union, and satisfactory results were achieved in 38 fractures (76%). More severe comminution led to a higher incidence of unsatisfactory results, but malrotation deformity was seen more often ...
